What is EPIFIX?

EPIFIX® is a placental tissue allograft composed of dehydrated human amnion/chorion membrane (DHACM). It is available in sheet and mesh/fenestrated configurations in a variety of sizes to reduce wastage.

Protective Environment

EPIFIX provides a protective barrier on wounds and thereby supports development of granulation tissue and the healing process.

Product Advantages

  • Most level I evidence in placental-based allografts: 6 EPIFIX RCTs
  • PURION® process preserves Extracellular Matrix (ECM) components, including 300+ regulatory proteins1,2
  • Easy to apply
  • Shelf-stable*
  • 5-year shelf life
  • Terminally sterilized for additional level of safety
  • Compatible with Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

Clinical Use Examples in Surgeons’ Practices

EPIFIX has been adopted by multiple clinical specialties in a variety of applications:

  • Acute Wounds
  • Chronic Wounds
  • Debridements
  • Dehisced Wounds
  • Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFUs)
  • Venous Leg Ulcers (VLUs)
  • Pressure Ulcers (PUs)
  • Mohs repair

    EPIFIX Processing & Details

EPIFIX is processed using PURION, a unique patented method for placental allografts that is in accordance with the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) standards. The product is derived from placental tissue donated by healthy, consenting mothers who have given live Caesarean section birth in the US.

MIMEDX’s patented PURION process preserves ECM, including regulatory factors and other matrix-associated proteins. For an additional level of safety, the product is terminally sterilized.
